The Story So Far
Although Tucker never performed musiically for the next several years, his passion for writing never left him and he showed promise as an artist. SUPERTRAMP’s, Roger Hodgson, in response to a letter and audio cassette that Tucker sent him, told him…” my you’re a prolific writer” and encouraged Brad to persue music and continue writing, but to most of all “have fun with music”. Hodgson is still one of Tuckers favorite Artist/ performers.
In Oct, 1990, Brad began his spiritual journey and began to attend church. He instantly was recognized for his talents and began to be musically involved in church services. He began writing songs about his new spiritual relationship and six years later released his first CD, it was titled “The Color of Love”. The album was recorded in Branson Missouri, and featured the musicians of well know 70s country star BARBARA FAIRCHILD,(the Teddy Bear Song). The Color of Love provided local exposure for Tucker, and opened a door for him to sing on NASHVILLE STAR SEEK, in Nashville TN, as well as getting a host of well known east coast musicians to hop on board of his musical journey. His 2nd recording” PRAISE TO GOD” was supposed to be a professional demo, produced by and featuring Georges Hebert (ANNE MURRAY), but as a result of so many people wanting it, it was packaged and sold at concerts. Georges Hebert was to play on Brad’s 3rd album “DRAWING NEAR” as well, along side of Wayne Hunt and Dave Burton of (RITA McNEIL). DRAWING NEAR was to be Brads 1st album to appear in stores and recieve radio play. The album was produced by Wayne Hunt with executive producer Doug Vicars.
In 2002, he released his 4th CD, “OPEN DOOR”, it featured musicians from both RITA McNEIL and the well known and successful band THE RANKIN FAMILY. The album was produced by Wayne Hunt and Scott Ferguson and earned Tucker a prestigious nomination for an 2003 ECMA for ” Gopel artist of the year”. The album also landed him national distribution, radio play and local/national television appearances. 2005 brought
Tucker was never able to support his family exclusively on his music’s income, as a result he began to concentrate his efforts more on family values/provision. Once again he continued to write in the mid-term with a few concerts here and there with his great friends and musical companions ” KRYSTAAL”, an african group based out of Toronto, Canada. It was through his relationship with KRYSTAAL that his 6th CD ” THERE IS HOPE ” was recorded. The CD, 5years in the making offered songs of hope, and presented for the first time songs of a more secular nature. The album was released in the summer of 2010, in western Canada, where Tucker again performed locally for about a year. Just over a year after the release, tradgedy struck Brad and his family with the suicide of his youngest son JOHN. “I still get very emotional talking about it…but I have reached an incredible inner peace about it all”, says Brad. Johns tradgedy has birthed multiple songs by Tucker, songs dealing with drugs, bullying , dealing with the death of loved ones and the hope through it all. One of the songs inspired by his late son’s death appears on his soon to be released main stream Country/Pop ALBUM, ” STRAIGHT TO THE SUN”. The song is a heart wrencher and is titled “TIL WE MEET AGAIN”, and the CD is to be released late spring/early summer 2014. The album was recorded in full, in NASHVILLE,TN, by 2 well known producers in Nashville, Emmy Award winner KENNY ROYSTER and GRAMMY NOMINATED, KENT WELLS of (Dolly Parton fame). The album also features co-writes with some of Nashville’s best songwriters and is projected to be the most succsessful album for Tucker to date. “This is but the beginning fo me”… says Tucker, ” God willing, I have a lot more albums in me yet” he states optimistically. One thing can be for sure, with over 100+ songs not recorded yet, there won’t be a shortage of material. We can expect a fruitful musical journey for the singer/songwriter. Brad Tucker currently resides in Saskatchewan with his wife of 27 years, their oldest son Stephen resides in Toronto and their daughter Sophie resides in saskatckewan. As for the music?… Who can say what the future holds… this is only THE STORY SO FAR!
